Tips about how you can speed up and boost performance of Windows Vista

Whether your PC runs very slow while running Window Vista then I am going to discuss few tips and tricks which will help you to make your vista faster :

  • Improve your SATA Disk Performance – This tweak will help you in improving the performance of your hard disk by enhanced write caching. This tip should be implemented only if you have power backup. Frequent power cuts can lead to data loss. To enhance your writing cache , go to the device manager and expand your disk drives. Then Right click your hard drives and select properties. After that click on policies tab and check Enable advanced performance. Click Ok and close Device manager.
  • Defragmentation Software – Windows vista come with defragmentation software but it’s not capable to handle files above 64mb. To Defragment big files you have to install defragmentation software. You can download free software called Defraggler at defraggler.com
  • Disabling Animations – Windows Vista Have very cool animations, but these animations consume most of your system resources and make your system slow. To disable this function go to start menu and enter SystemPropertiesPerformance in search bar and then search. Then select the visual Effects tab uncheck animate windows tab and click OK.
  • Disable Welcome Center - Welcome center is the feature for new users which start every time the vista starts. You can disable this from your Registry editor. To Go to Registry Editor, So to start, then run and type Regedit. Once Registry Editor get opened Navigate through HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software >Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion >Run. Right Click on WindowsWelcomeCenter key and then delete.
  • Start menu Search – To speed up the search, Right Click the search button and select properties. After that click on Customize Button and remove check from search communications. After that set search files to don’t search files and then click ok. This tweak will speed up the search by not including hard drive files in the searchable file index.
  • Turn off Aero Glass - Window Vista contain very cool transparency feature but it consumes lot of system resources and make your system slow. To turn off this transparency feature right click on Desktop and select Personalize. Select Windows Color and Appearance and then uncheck Enable Transparency.
  • Disable User Account Control – User Account Control is another important feature to improve the security but sometimes become very annoying and irritating as Your browser may not support display of this image. Vista asks every now and then your permission as you click anything. You can disable this feature by going to control panel. Then go to User accounts. And then select option to Turn User Account Control on or off. Now Uncheck User Account Control Box and it would be disabled.
  • ReadyBoost – ReadyBoost is another Feature of Vista, which lets Windows to use Flash drive connected as Memory Cache. This Program keeps on running by default and since most of the people don’t use this feature, this program consumes system resources and makes it slow. To disable the ReadyBoost on your PC, go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services. Double-click on the ReadyBoost service and select ‘disable’ from the drop down box.
