Create A Task List And Understand Your Priorities When Promoting Your Site

Posted by Guest Editor 10 November, 2009

The following are simple ways to figure out how much time you should be spending to market and promote your business website.

Write down all activities you do to draw in visitors

Make sure you include on the list any active marketing and promoting. Ensure you do are very precise with this list and do not leave anything out. Go over the list a second time for accuracy.

Write everything down!

At the end of the week, annotate each task that in some way contributed to generating profits on your business website. Sort the tasks by how much money was made, and then reverse the order of how long each task took. Keep in mind that if four actions made you approximately $200 dollars, group them together as one task while adding their time together.

De-prioritize

Anything that does not make the list of tasks, which made you money, de-prioritize them.
Do not simply ignore the de-prioritized tasks. Sometimes you need to adjust your techniques with more time, adjust accordingly as in the case with directory submissions. You need to understand what your priorities are and what they are not. This helps with such a task.

Perform the actions that made the list in their new order

Do new things you hear about or have found through research, which has worked, for other online businesses. Study other business websites preferably the popular ones. Ask yourself how are they so successful? Institute some of their strategies to your own business website.

Set reasonable time limits

Setting a reasonable time limit daily for achieving tasks can aid in reducing the amount of time given to particular tasks. A good example of this is writing all your article submissions by hand. Sign up for an article distribution website and only submit articles manually to important ones they miss. Assign that part of the task to someone else who actually enjoys writing. This will save you precious time. Time management is very important for a website owner. You have to know when to pass the work to someone else. You are not a superhero and must keep in mind that you cannot do everything alone.

Write down all the events, which brought in extra income

At the end of the month, make sure you write down events that brought more visitors or subscribers and extra income. If these are not on the list then add them. I

Do another review of your list

Drop any activity that does not seem to be producing the results you need for your online business. Keep re-checking your list.

Once you have performed these steps you will have a list of everything you do which generates leads, clients and visitors to your business website. You will also understand which tasks to perform first if you are pressed for time.

It is very important to familiarize yourself with time management. This could be the difference in your online business becoming successful or outright failing. The choice is yours.
