Most of these features are already seen in Google Maps so Microsoft has decided to release some new features that should bring more users to Bing Maps. Now for the first time Bing Maps will allow you to calculate taxi fare from one location to another. This means that you can calculate approximate fare without even getting a taxi.

When you start the Taxi Fare Calculator you’ll have to choose your region and directions from one location to another. Since taxi fares are based on the region by choosing your region you’ll be able to get local taxi fares and calculate the approximate price for your ride. This tool looks promising enough and it can be extremely helpful if you’re visiting certain city for a first time. Taxi Fare Calculator for Bing might be an interesting addition for Bing Maps especially because Google Maps doesn’t have a similar feature to offer. Anyway, Taxi Fare Calculator looks interesting enough and we’re hoping that we’ll see it in Bing Maps in near future.

Although Gmail has started modestly with only 1 GB of storage, but over the years Google has decided to increase the storage space for all its Gmail users. Although 7 GB seems more than enough for your emails Google has a special offer that will give you from 20 GB to 16 TB of storage space for a certain price. Besides that, Gmail has integrated Google Talk that allows you to chat quickly with your contacts in real time. In addition, video chat is available as well. Latest addition to Gmail was the famous Google Buzz service that allows you to share your status updates and links with your Gmail contacts.

Recently Google has added another update and for the first time we’ll be able to use rich text signatures. When you enter signature settings you’ll have rich text editor through which you can add images, links and format your text. Interesting thing about signatures is that you can actually make several different signatures and use them with different email accounts. All of that you can do simply by choosing the email address from the settings page on your Gmail account.

This is a nice improvement by Google because users have been waiting for rich text signatures for a long time. Constant improvements like this are the thing that made Gmail so popular nowadays with more than 176 millions of users.

Basking in his new-found glory as the highest Test run getter after breaking Brian Lara’s record of 11,953 runs, the batting great said he does not have anything to prove to anyone and nobody should tell him when to call it quits.

“I don’t need to prove anything to anyone. I have been around for 19 years and all those 19 years I did not play to prove anything to anyone, not in my first year not in the 10th, 15th or 19th year,” a combative Tendulkar told a press conference after the opening day’s play against Australia.

“What I need to do is to contribute to whatever my team’s requirements are. I’m not here to answer what x,y, and z is writing about me or saying about me. People will say lot of things, not necessarily they are always correct. I don’t take thir opinions seriously,” he said.

“What happens in the dressing room is more imporant. The planning of the captain, coach, manager and other players are much more important. I just focus on that,” he said.

Tendulkar made it clear that though the clamour is growing for the retirement of the senior players in the side, he was in no mood to hang up his boots.

“I’m going to continue obviously, I’m feeling good. As I said, so many things are being said and written and not necessarily those are right. Those are only opinions”, he said.

“What I feel within is more important. People tend to give opinion about what’s going in my mind, so I don’t know how they can figure out what’s going in my mind, which is something even I can’t figure out at times,” Tendulkar quipped. “As long as I enjoy I’ll play. I don’t need x, y, z to tell me when I should stop or when I should continue. When I started, no one told me you should continue, so nobody needs to tell me now either,” he said.

Taking a dig at his critics, he said “people sometimes throw stones and you converted them into milestones.” The champion batsman, however, said becoming Test cricket’s highest run-getter was the biggest achievement of his career.

“It is definitely the biggest achievement in 19 years of my career. It can’t happen overnight. The journey has been fantastic with ups and downs. It was a process of success,” he said.

Tendulkar admitted not winning a World Cup rankles him but refused to commit to hang around for the 2011 World Cup.

“Of course this is something we came very close to win in 2003 but it was so near yet so far. For me, I now just want to go out and enjoy, not thinking about targets and goals. When it comes in the vicinity, I would focus my energy on that,” he said.

Ballmer’s comments to a meeting of Microsoft’s shareholders were the first from the company since the announcement Monday that Jerry Yang was stepping down as Yahoo CEO. That move was seen as raising the chances for a Microsoft buyout since Yang had been the company’s staunchest opponent of the deal that valued Yahoo at $47.5 billion – more than three times what it is now worth.

The comments by the Microsoft boss sent Yahoo’s shares plunging by as much as 20 percent after they had rallied on news of Yang’s move.

“We thought we had something that made sense. But it didn’t make sense to them. We’ve moved on,” said Ballmer at Microsoft’s annual shareholders meeting. “Let me be clear. We are done with all acquisition discussions with Yahoo.”

However he stressed that a partnership between Microsoft and Yahoo in the internet search market is “an interesting possibility”. Such an alliance would help the companies challenge Google, which dominates the US online advertising market that is expected to grow 25 percent this year.

The bus was flagged from Chennai today and will cover most cities in the state of Tamil Nadu over the next six weeks. Prem Ramaswami & Srikanth Belwadi of Google India say that the bus will showcase Internet services like search, email, social networking, maps and others.

Microsoft Store offers the company’s entire consumer catalog, including desktop software, the Xbox console and its related game titles, the Microsoft Zune, and all of the company’s hardware, including mice, keyboards, web cameras, and joysticks.

“Microsoft Store gives customers a trusted environment to discover, learn, try, download and buy from the largest selection of Microsoft software, devices and hardware,” said Larry Engel, general manager, Microsoft Store & Marketplaces. “For the first time, customers will have one place to find and purchase everything from Microsoft, rather than seeing just a list of products.”

According to Engel, one of the most compelling features of the new store is that it will offer many products, including Windows and Office, as a digital download. “We think customers will enjoy the immediate satisfaction of purchasing, downloading and installing these products within minutes,” he says.

Although the Microsoft Store will price all its products at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), customers still see benefits, says Engel.

“Microsoft Store is really about making that direct connection with the customers, and then making it a great experience from start to finish,” he says. “The entire focus of our design is to make it easy for customers to navigate and find the products they want, and understand which products will work best for them.”

Customers will find tabs to broad product categories, and simple links for version comparisons, pricing and ordering. Straightforward “connect the dots” diagrams allow for fast and clear comparisons between software versions, so customers can get the right package for the features they need.

In addition to downloads, Microsoft Store will also offer full packaged products. In general, PC software will be available either as a packaged product or for immediate download, while games and hardware will be shipped.

Microsoft Store has already launched in Germany, UK and Korea. Over the next year, the store will also launch in several countries worldwide, in a number of languages. New stores are in the works for Japan, France, Spain and the Netherlands.

There are many things which are not clear yet…

• What will happen to Google Products and specially firefox?If you remember these 4-5 product was there before third-party products started appearing into AdSense referral program. Will these product be moved to new Affiliate Network or will they given there special status back?
• AdSense blog post hints about “advertisers targeting users located in the United States.” What will happen to non-US visitors?

What will happen to pending conversions?

AdSense official help page answered this question with following information,

Starting the last week of August, we’ll no longer be serving referral ads on your website, and no further clicks will be recorded. If a user completes the advertiser’s required action within 30 days of clicking on your ad, earnings will accrue to your account through the end of September. After that time, you will no longer be able to earn money from referral ads. Your payments won’t be affected; you’ll continue to be paid once you’ve reached the payment threshold.

What you need to do now…

You have to remove codes from your site for sure latest by August end. But if you want to keep records about your referrals earnings for whatever reason, you must go to advance report section of Adsense, create reports and download them to your desktop. As all information regarding referral earning will be wiped out form Adsense database.

There are around 50 days left before Adsense referral will retire now. In meantime you can signup for new Google Affiliate Network as well as other alternatives like commission junction, etc.
