According to Microsoft 81 percent of manufactures are using Windows 7 as operating system and since Microsoft is canceling Windows XP SP2 support on July 13 there’s no point that manufactures continue to sell netbooks with Windows XP.

Windows XP was an amazing operating system but now times have changed and it falls to Windows 7 to takes its role. Is this the end of Windows XP after nine long years? It sure looks like it.

According to its officials, a new licensing promotion has been introduced called “Up to Date Discount” which would primarily focus on getting the users interest to upgrade their version of Microsoft to the latest software.
Microsoft wants to target this program primarily on small/mid size business (SMB) customers who are running the older versions of Office and Windows. A campaign would be started between January 1 and June 30 of this year for customers that use operating system based on Windows XP or Vista and Office XP , 2003 and 2007 version respectively, wherein they would be offered a discount of 50 percent if they were to purchase Windows 7 or Office 2007 as they are scheduled to be released by June,2010.
According to Microsoft officials, these prices are based on retail prices, and resellers price may differ. The company however seems to be offering great deals to its U.S. customers who enroll into this program who will be offered the Windows 7 upgrade at $35 and Office 2007 Professional Plus upgrade at just $91 which would be applicable for the first year, this would also include all the software assurance benefits like automatic upgrades in the future all included in the price.
However there are few things to be cautioned as there are drawbacks to this offer, the customers get 50 percent discount only for the first year and this offer is only applicable for customers using the Professional versions of Windows and Office.
Eric Ligman, Global Partner Experience Lead with Microsoft Group says that Microsoft would be introducing “The Big Easy” which would be “version 4.0”of another SMB promotional licensing offer. Therefore, SMB customers who buy multiple qualifying Microsoft products like advanced, premium or Enterprise editions from Microsoft Solutions have an option to increase dollars which can be spent towards Microsoft partners. However, customers would need to buy the products through Microsoft partners via the Open License, Open Value and subscriptions programs between January 3 to March 31. 3. When the USB Flash Drive boots, you’ll see Windows Password Key 8.0 initializing (see screen shot below). If so, you can continue to the next step.

4. Choose the Windows installation to be processed:

5. Choose the user whose password you want to reset by typing it’s number and pressing ‘ENTER’.

6. Type ‘y’ followed by ‘ENTER’ to reset the password.

7. After you confirm the resetting of the password. Windows Password Key 8.0 asks: ‘Reset password for another account? (y/n)’. Type ‘y’ to reset password for another account, or ‘n’ if you are finished and want to exit. Remove the Windows Password Key 8.0 bootable CD/DVD and restart your PC. Now you are able to log into your computer without a password!
